Our Recruitment Coordinator, Janne Saure Hoel, explains how we make it happen.
When a vessel needs crew, every hour counts. At OffshoreCrew, we can go from request to a fully crewed vessel in just 24 hours – without compromising on quality. Our Recruitment Coordinator, Janne Saure Hoel, explains how we make it happen.
With a bachelor’s degree in Shipping Management from NTNU and an thirteen years of experience as a stewardess at sea, Janne Saure Hoel knows the maritime industry inside and out. After more than a decade working on vessels around the world, she is now back on Norway’s southern coast, joining our Kristiansand office as Recruitment Coordinator. Her role is to source, evaluate, and secure the best-qualified seafarers for our clients’ vessels.
In the fast-paced world of shipping and offshore operations, timing is everything. When a vessel requires crew, every hour matters. At OffshoreCrew, we have refined our process to ensure that we can go from an initial request to a fully crewed vessel in as little as 24 hours – without compromising on quality or compliance.
As Janne explains, the process begins the moment a client reaches out with a request. We respond immediately, confirm the details, and record the position in our internal Placement list. From there, we publish the vacancy on our website, LinkedIn, Facebook, and in relevant maritime groups, ensuring that it reaches the widest possible pool of qualified candidates.
While the posting is live, we actively search our database and networks to create a shortlist of potential crew members. For each candidate, we carefully verify CVs and certificates to make sure all requirements are met. Reference checks are conducted with previous employers to confirm reliability and performance at sea.
Once we are confident in a candidate’s suitability, we prepare a complete profile for the client, including CV, certifications, references, and sea service records. The client then reviews the candidate and either confirms their choice or requests alternative profiles. When the right person has been selected, we finalize the placement with a written agreement that outlines the terms, conditions, and duration of the contract.
Before departure, we ensure that all details – from the vessel’s flag to the crew member’s responsibilities – are updated in our system. Even after the voyage, we follow up with the client to confirm that the placement met expectations and to identify opportunities for further collaboration.
By following this structured yet flexible approach, Janne and the team at OffshoreCrew deliver fast, reliable crewing solutions under tight deadlines.
“Speed is important, but accuracy and safety always come first. Whether the need is for a single crew member or an entire team, OffshoreCrew stands ready to deliver – quickly, efficiently, and with the highest professional standards."
